1) Get invited to a friend's home for Thanksgiving or other special event
2) Volunteer to bring a chocolate pecan pie
3) Wait to last minute to prepare the pie before going to friend's home
4) Decide that the pie will definitely taste much better if it is freshly baked at the friend's home
5) Assemble pie so it will be ready to go into the oven when you arrive to the friend's home
6) Place the assembled pie in it's tin onto a wicker plate and cover with saran wrap
7) Decide to hold the pie carefully in one hand so that the uncooked contents (egg, corn syrup, etc) will not spill or drip
8) Realize that you promised another friend that you would take her to work, just a few minutes before she's supposed to be there
9) Rush to her house, while balancing the pie carefully
10) Drive her to her work - while still holding the pie (there is concern that she might spill it somehow - which would, of course, disappoint those who are waiting for the promised pie)
11) Decide, while driving the friend to work, that the window needs to be adjusted slightly to alleviate the sound of wind in the car.
12) Use your left hand (which should be on the steering wheel) to adjust the window
13) Pay no attention to the angle at which you hold the pie in with your right hand
14) Spill approximately 1/4 of pie mixture onto blouse, pants, and steering wheel
15) Suddenly realize that your placement of the uncooked pie wicker plate was an additional dim idea you had that day
16) Drive friend to work, still holding pie (which is still dripping, of course)
17) Sheepishly allow friend to photograph you with her cell phone's camera before she leaves the vehicle to start work (and realize that your controlling ways could have allowed the pie to be on her at this point rather than yourself)
18) Call friends who are waiting on you
19) Tell a complete stranger who answers the phone at the friend's house what's happened and that you will be there as soon as you can change your clothes
20) Suddenly realize that you could have placed all the liquid contents of the pie into a bowl with a sealable lid
Oh... if the friend decides to post the picture, perhaps I will add it to the post later. We'll see

Lol. That is too funny. Did you have fun once you got there?
Dear Kate,
(Gosh, I hope I remembered your name right. Forgive me if I didn't) I'm writing comment on only #7 so first I'll surmise that you should bake the pie at home before bringing it to Thanksgiving dinner.
Now I'm finished. Wasn't as bad as I thought. At least you didn't get in a car wreck!
Did you get to bake the pie? How did it taste? My blind roommate brought home some slices of a pumpkin pie his grandmother baked and asked me to "sample" a slice to see if his grandmother knew how to bake a pie. (I guess cause Mike can't "see" it.) I had a slice and it tasted just like.....pumpkin pie.

@baldmike2004 - Hi... the name's Katie but quite close enough.... I get called Kate every now and again.
As for the pie... Yes... I should have baked it earlier (rather than procrastinate), and I AM lucky that it was just me and the pie that ended up a mess - and not a car wreck.
The pie content made it (I think I lost about 1/3 of it when it was all said and done - it did rise a bit during cooking - and it was a deep-dish pie - so there was still plenty in it). It did taste good - BUT it didn't "set" too well (it was kind of liquidy). It was my very first pecan pie though... so perhaps it should have baked a little longer or done something else different. Everybody still seemed to like it despite everything.
Mmm... pumpkin pie
I hope you had a nice Thanksgiving!
@Ezekiel36_33to36 - Pecan chocolate chip, you say? Do you make your own crusts? Do you have a spare couch, or even just a lump of rags in the garage? I can sleep almost anywhere.
@distractedbyzombies - I didn't make the crusts (not exactly that much of a suzie-homemaker...) And, um... not too sure what you meant by the second part.
I am willing to be a guard dog for scraps.
@distractedbyzombies - ohhh
@Ezekiel36_33to36 - I was having a hard time expressing a thought. The point is I want pie. I will be your pie friend. We can have a friendship...based on pie.
I have been thinking about this crazy post for weeks now. Always gives me a good laugh when it comes to mind. I have this hilarious mental image. Waiting on the pictures to support my imagination. ;)
@Rowbean - my friend deleted it off her cell phone. I was disappointed too
Oh no!
